Rye is a symbol of life, prosperity, and fertility. Ukrainians have long believed that it does not just grow but lives, preserving the memory of generations and concealing
something beyond our perception. Many people have passed through these fields…
Those who carefully cultivated the land, sowed the seeds, and nurtured the harvest for their families. And those who fought with weapons in their hands for these lands, for this rye, for their future. Time passes, but their souls do not disappear - they remain in the fields, in the rustle of the stalks, in the depths of the earth… Among the golden ears, between the stems, in the shadow of the summer sun - there are figures… Spirits of the fields, unseen yet always felt. The Poleviks, rye nymphs, and Polevitsy - beings that watch over the harvest and protect the fields, but can also mislead a traveler or whisper secrets to those who listen. My new painting is not just an image of rye. It is a dialogue with ancient symbols, a connection between the visible and the invisible, between the past and the present. Can you feel their presence?
